Volunteering with the DES PTA

Our PTA needs you! We’re an all volunteer organization so none of our events or fundraisers can happen without the AMAZING support we get from parents, grandparents and our DES Community!

There are events and opportunities throughout the year for different things. Some opportunities are during the day, some are at night, some can be done from home and others are at DES – AND some help students gain SSL hours!

If you do not currently have a student at DES, please enter Alumni or Community Member when it asks for “student attending DES.”

Please remember that anyone volunteering for an in-school opportunity will need to complete the MCPS Volunteer Training Course online. Once you have finished the certification is good for three years!

Volunteer Opportunities

Parents Helping Teachers: Meets two Fridays each month from 9:30-11:30 a.m. This is a drop in opportunity where we help make copies and educational materials to help teachers. Please meet us in the main office if you can. No experience necessary (learn more).

Green Team: We need adult helpers, gardening supplies, and assistance with grant writing. For more information, please the PTA at desptamail@gmail.com.
